What is TASC?

The Teen Advisory and Service Committee is a forum for teens in grades 7th-12th:

  • To have fun and meet other teens
  • To have a voice in planning library activities for teens
  • To help librarians with programs and events for children
  • To gain leadership skills and earn community services hours

Who can join TASC?

Teens in grades 7-12 who have an IPPL card or attend a school within the library's district.

When does TASC meet?

TASC meets September - May on the 3rd Saturday from 1:30-3:30 pm. We discuss and plan upcoming activities, volunteer opportunities, and consider ways the library can better serve teens in our community. You will earn community services hours for the time you spend at TASC meetings and assisting with programs or services at the library.

What responsibilities do TASC members have?

  • Attend a minimum of four of the regularly scheduled board meeting
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours
  • Actively participate in at least one TASC subcommittee
  • Promote IPPL's programs and services in your school and community
  • Suggest materials, programs, and services for teens
  • Plan, market, and assist with programming in the Kids & Teens Department

What are TASC Subcommittees?

TASC subcommittees meet during TASC meetings to work on special events and projects. Not every committee meets year round, so it is possible to participate on more than one. Subcommittees for 2017-2018 will be discussed at the first meeting. Past subcommittees have included:

  • Teen Programs - planning and promoting programs for teens
  • Youth Programs - planning and assisting with programs for children
  • Gaming - planning and staffing gaming tournaments and other related events
  • The Sound - planning and promoting our annual teen music competition in June
