The book, Inside Out, by Terry Trueman, is full of “Riveting Suspense” according to the Kirkus Review. This 117 page book won’t take more than an hour to read (ages 15 and up), and its monotonous style of writing would be greatly appreciated to an ESL (English as a second language) student. Trueman’s use of onomatopoeia gives the reader an inside look at how a schizophrenic uses various parts of his brain, at consecutive times throughout a small amount of time.
Zach, a schizophrenic 16 year old, realizes that only he has the fearlessness quality to help two guys whom everyone is trying to get away from. Zach isn’t only risking his life, but his sanity. If you liked this books style, check out You Don’t Know Me, by David Klass. A.K.

On March 13, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. we are hosting an ‘After Hours Murder Mystery’ for 7th – 12th graders.
Indian Prairie Public Library will become the “Indian-Prairie Libraria Resort,” one of the most prestigious hotels in the nation, circa 1940.
Members of our Teen Advisory Board have created an original script for this program; now we would like to notch it up a step. We are currently looking for 3 teens interested in film-making and or videography to use our FlipVideo Recorders to capture the action during the program. We would like to create a DVD, using Microsoft Movie Maker that will premiere at the library during National Library Week in April.
If you want to join this project or know of any student that would be interested in joining our crew, please have them contact me. Jane Hartney Teen Program Cooordinator at hartneyj@indianprairielibrary.org or 630/887-8760ext270. We will be having a meeting again soon, so the sooner the better.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (Book 1 of the trilogy). In a future North America, where the rulers of Panem maintain control through an annual televised survival competition pitting young people from each of the twelve districts against one another, sixteen-year-old Katniss’s skills are put to the test when she voluntarily takes her younger sister’s place.
“You won’t want to put this one down,” according to our reviewer, “it is completely enthralling. ” I enjoyed this better than any of Collins’ previous novels and well worth the read. ~JG
