Parents: Summer reading fosters academic success
Students stay sharp because of summer reading programs. During the summer, kids can lose some of the academic gains they made the previous school year. Studies show that students who participate in a summer reading program at their local library enter the school year more confident and more prepared for school in the fall. AND, reading just four books during the summer can prevent a decline in reading scores. From reading and writing to science and math, our programs and classes keep kids sharp while they are having fun. We will help your kids cruise into the next school year.
Mission Math
Our Mission Math program is a great way to practice math skills and prevent falling behind in school for the following year. Kids can earn prizes for their completed sheets. Mission Math worksheets are available to download on Monday, June 10. If you’re looking for Mission Math help, attend one of our drop-in events.
Reading Buddies
Grades 1–4 can stop by to practice reading skills with a teen volunteer. Bring a favorite book or read one of ours. Children spend 15 minutes one-on-one with a teen mentor reading aloud and chatting about favorite books and authors to help encourage a lifelong love of reading in a no-pressure environment.
